Whare Hauora Events

Kaumatua Christmas Function

In 1990’s the Whare Hauora organised Community Christmas events, involving the organisations within the Reporoa rohe.  It was a way of bringing the community together.

It was the start of many Kaumatua Christmas Functions, held on the different Marae within Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa rohe. Each year more of our kaumatua, koroua, kuia are coming home from other cities/towns to attend the annual Kaumatua Christmas Function.

Community Whanau Day

Over the years we have had whanau day events, one was held in October 2015.

The Kaupapa was to uplift whanau, the community and celebrate living.

We were fortunate to have King Kapisi come as our special guest, with Semu Filipo as MC.

The whanau day was to bring out some joy for our small community heavily impacted by grief.

Te Arawa Kaumatua Olympics

In 2019 Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa attended the Te Arawa Kaumatua Olympics, where Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa came second.

This year (2023) we attended the Te Arawa Olympics at the events centre in Rotorua and what a beautiful turnout it was.  We want this to be an ongoing event, and a enjoyable outing for kaumatua.

Dr Laurie Morrison from Rotorua has kindly offered to bring some games and some of their kaumatua to Reporoa to participate in a fun activity's day.
